OAI’s main facility is centrally located within Chicago’s “Loop” area. For administrative and operational support, the office is outfitted with all necessary equipment and technology to support and manage nationwide training programs.
Of relevance to this proposed project, in Kentucky OAI maintains three 14-foot instructional trailers, which are fully equipped for conducting the HAZWOPER course. Included in each trailer are:
- HAZWOPER reference materials
- Level A, B and C suits

- Chemical boots and gloves
- Salvage drum
- Cromwell patch kit
- Pipe repair kit
- Chlorine A kit
- Drum lifter
- 6 two-way radios
- Decontamination equipment
- LCD data/video projector
- 1 laptop computer
- 1 laser printer
- 1 mobile projection screen
OAI also employs a Kentucky-based master instructor liaison who oversees statewide training. He is responsible for coordinating state and site-specific training needs, including scheduling course dates and instructors, arranging for training facilities, deploying additional equipment from other training sites, conducting on-site needs analysis and customizing the course to meet the specific needs of the audience being taught to best prepare them for potential hazards encountered in their work environments.
